IT HAS COME TO OUR ATTENTION

OFFICIAL STATEMENT — SABAH SARAWAK KELUAR MALAYSIA – SSKM NGO

I am Ray Chalmer Jefferson, President of the non-governmental organisation legally registered under the jurisdiction of Victoria, Australia, as Sabah Sarawak Keluar Malaysia–SSKM. I issue this official statement to clarify recent confusion and issues for public reference.

We clearly acknowledge the contribution of a representative of the SSKM movement established through a Facebook group in 2012. The movement was active on social media for several years before operating formally as an NGO under the name Sabah Sarawak Union–SSU, registered in the UK by a movement representative appointed to represent SSKM’s leadership. That contribution helped advance the independence movement for Sabah and Sarawak from the United Kingdom from 2012.

Nevertheless, we, the SSKM NGO legally registered in Australia, respectfully reject the allegation that SSKM under my leadership has “used the SSKM name unlawfully” unless valid legal evidence is produced, including an Australian trademark registration, a binding written agreement, a constitution conferring exclusive authority, or a valid court order.

A freedom movement is more than a personal brand. It is a political and historical struggle carried by the people, particularly the people of Sabah and Sarawak who continue to campaign peacefully for justice, self-determination and public awareness.

SSKM registered in Australia operates independently as a diaspora movement in Australia and in the homeland. It does not claim to act under any individual’s personal leadership, nor does it claim that any leader outside Australia is responsible for SSKM Australia’s actions. Any statement separating an individual from SSKM Australia is therefore accepted only insofar as it confirms this separation of responsibility.

SSKM Australia also affirms that the peoples of Sabah and Sarawak, including those living overseas, have the right to speak, associate, campaign and organise peacefully in support of self-determination. No individual may shut down lawful political participation merely by claiming personal ownership of a people’s struggle.

For clarity:

1. SSKM Australia is responsible for its own activities in Australia and in the homeland, Sabah, at present.
2. Leaders outside Australia are responsible only for their own movements, statements and activities.
3. RSNB is a separate entity with its own structure, ministries and political positions.
4. Disputes about names, branding or authority should be resolved through proper legal channels, rather than public accusations.
5. SSKM Australia remains committed to peaceful advocacy, public education and the democratic right of the peoples of Sabah and Sarawak to determine their own future.

SSKM Australia respects all pioneers of the struggle. That respect does not mean surrendering the right of the people of Sabah and Sarawak in Australia to organise independently.

The struggle belongs to the people.
The name must serve the struggle, not control it.
